TEDxUniversity of Chittagong 2024 marked a historic milestone as the first-ever TEDx event at the University of Chittagong, bringing the globally recognized spirit of “ideas worth spreading” to one of Bangladesh’s most prestigious academic institutions. Organized by the Chittagong University Research and Higher Study Society (CURHS), this independently curated event created a powerful platform where innovation, knowledge, and storytelling came together to inspire a new generation of thinkers and leaders.The event featured a distinguished lineup of speakers from diverse backgrounds, including scientists, educators, media personalities, entrepreneurs, and creatives. These speakers shared powerful stories, groundbreaking insights, and personal journeys that deeply resonated with the audience. From scientific breakthroughs to human resilience, each talk contributed to a collective experience that inspired attendees to think differently .
June 4 2024, was the day when Chittagong University experienced its first-ever TEDx event. With the theme “A New Tomorrow,” the day-long event explored various forward-thinking ideas, inspiring young minds to reimagine possibilities and embrace change. Eight different speakers from different backgrounds took the stage. Each of them shared their decorated journey and perspective. Professor Hasina Khan, Dr Md. Mahmudul Kabir, Dr Khadun Noor Tushar, Professor Dr Basana Muntaha, Anisur Hoque, Dr Babar Ali, Peya Jannatul, and Asif Iqbal together painted a rich and diverse picture of ideas worth sharing. The event was honoured by the presence of the then Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Md. Abu Taher and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Benu Kumar Dey. The event was led by Organiser Nusrat Afrin and Co-organiser Md Al Amin, who brought their vision to life through sheer dedication and purpose. The title sponsor of the event was AMA Coffee, along with other valued sponsors, partners and collaborators; the event stood as a testament to what collective effort can achieve.
And now the journey continues.
TEDxUniversity of Chittagong 2024 set a new benchmark for intellectual and creative engagement within the university. It laid the foundation for a growing platform where ideas can thrive, voices can be heard, and future leaders can emerge. As the first chapter of this journey, it ignited a movement — one that continues to evolve, inspire, and shape the future of ideas at the University of Chittagong.
